Ravindra Jadeja was born on 6 December 1988. He is an Indian cricketer ranked number one in Test cricket and is an all-rounder, who plays as a left-handed middle-order batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He plays for Saurashtra in first-class cricket and the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League. Previously he represented Chennai Super kings in the Indian Premier League.

He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2009 and his Test debut almost four years later, in 2012, against England at Nagpur.

Jadeja first made an appearance in the Under-19 team in 2005 when he was just 16 years old. Subsequently he became a part of the Indian Under -19 team on regular basis before he was spotted by the selectors to play for the national team.

Jadeja’s debut in first-class cricket was during the 2006–07 Duleep Trophy tournament. He represents West Zone in the Duleep Trophy and plays for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.

His international career was a roller coaster ride. He remained on and off the team several times but finally gained a permanent place in the playing eleven due to his all round performance.

Jadeja was picked up for $2 million by the Chennai Super Kings at the 2012 IPL Players Auction. He was subsequently bought by the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL Players Auction for almost Rs 10 crores, after the Chennai Super Kings were banned from the IPL for two seasons.

His IPL stint was equally fruitful with Rajasthan Royals in the initial years and thereafter with CSK where he shined like a bright star. Jadeja is an important member of the Indian cricket team and is a valuable player.
