Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane born in 1988 is an Indian cricketer who plays for the national team and is the vice-captain of the Indian Test team. He is a right-handed batsman and is a specialist in Test match cricket.

Rahane made his first-class debut in 2007-08 and was quick at adapting to conditions. Rahane played his first test against Australia in 2013.

Rahane’s domestic career saw an upward trend during all the matches played for Mumbai. He excelled with the bat in all the matches he played against all opponents.

His performance earned him a place in the national team, which toured England in 2011.

Rahane’s test career was full of surprises and he batted well against Australia in his debut test. His scores against New Zealand and Sri Lanka were impressive and caught the attention of the selectors who retained him in the playing eleven for that series and for future tournaments as well.

His ODI debut came against England and he did not disappoint the fans back home with decent scores to his credit.

His IPL stint started with Mumbai Indians, but his stint was short lived as he could not prove his mettle and adorned the benches for most of the matches. Later he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals where he opened the innings and to everyone’s surprise became one of the most sought after player for the team due to his run scoring ability.

His IPL performance so far is the best among his teammates and being a test specialist; he got adapted to twenty20 format with ease and cemented his place in the playing eleven.

Finally, Rahane married Radhika Dhopavkar in 2014.
