Ravichandran Ashwin born in 1986 is an Indian cricketer. He is an useful all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm off break.

Ashwin plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and the Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL.

He played his first match for Tamil Nadu in December 2006. He captained his team that particular year and won accolades for his leadership skills.

He ODI debut came against Srilanka in 2010 and was successful in taking quick wickets in the games he played.

He played his first test match against West Indies and became the seventh Indian to take a five-wicket haul on Test debut.

Ashwin performance has inspired many and in the initial years he used play for Tamil Nadu cricket team and for south zone in the Ranji Trophy. His IPL stint with CSK was quite well known and he won several man of the match and man of the tournament awards during his stint with CSK.

His overseas career was equally pragmatic since he was successful with the ball and occasionally with the bat. His bowling figures in the 2011 world cup were impressive with India winning all their matches in which Ashwin played.

He had a reasonable but decent run with the bat. He has several fifties and couple of centuries to his credit. He has proved at times that he is a useful all rounder when it matters most and can contribute to the success of the team.

Ashwin is one of the most successful spin bowlers India has produced he still continues to command attention with his slow bowling style.

Finally Ashwin married his child hood friend Prithi Narayanan and they have a baby girl named Akhira.
