He is an Indian wicketkeeperbatsman who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004. He was born as Krishna Kumar Dinesh Karthik in Chennai.

Karthik’s first-class debut came in 2002 for Tamil Nadu. He was impressive with his batting but his wicket keeping skills had brought him down. He managed to get back into the team with sheer hard work. He got a chance to play for India at the 2004 Under-19 World Cup.

He made his ODI and Test cricket debut in later half of 2004 against Australia and England respectively.

Karthik’s domestic career was not satisfactory despite being a specialist batsman. He struggled to score runs and had a bad experience as a wicket keeper. He was frequently dropped from the playing eleven and that dented his chances to prove his mettle.

Karthik has proved several times that he has the wherewithal to deliver things when it matters most. His batting skills coupled with his ability to keep gloves had enabled him to make into the Indian national team several times.

Karthik’s ability to score during crunch times had won him many fans. His Ranji career was one of the best and his performance assured the selectors that he can be a good contributor to the team’s success.

Karthik’s performance during overseas tours was also equally commendable and but despite this he had to make way for MS Dhoni another wicket keeper batsman of great caliber. Karthik excelled with the bat and his dismissals were talk of the day.

His IPL performance was above average and he contributed successfully to Delhi’s performance against all opponents. He has played for several teams in the IPL and lately he was associated with Gujarat Lions.

In his personal life Dinesh married Dipika Pallikal, a Squash player in 2015 after getting divorced from his first wife.
