Born in 1990 he is an Indian cricketer who plays for the national team. He represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Kumar is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a lower order right-handed batsman.

Kumar played his first domestic match at the age of 17 against Bengal. Kumar made his debut against Pakistan in a Twenty20 match and won the hearts of the selectors who retained him for reminder of the series that year.

His test debut came against Australia in 2003. He could not perform well due to pitch conditions favouring spinners rather than his style of bowling. He also scored reasonably during that test against Australia.

In the Champions trophy in 2013, he had good bowling figures and later in a tri nation tournament held that year, he excelled against Srilanka.

During India’s tour of England in 2014, he made three fifties in as many tests and took ten wickets in two matches in a row. He had an impressive bowling figure to his credit and as a result, he was named man of the series for that particular series.

In the IPL, he was picked up by RCB during the initial years of its inception and later he played for Pune Warriors. Eventually he ended up being selected for Sunrisers Hyderabad where he had a dream run with the ball.

He won two man of the series award and a man of the match award during his stint with the Indian team.

Kumar is still a bachelor but he is rumored to be linked with an actress in the film industry.
