Fake Sales Promotion calls – ways to prevent it from recurring

Companies promote their products and services by making calls to prospective customers. With the advent of mobile phones, sales promotion calls have increased manifold over the years.

Companies call customers intending to dupe and swindle money on the pretext of making a sales promotion. Fake sales promotion calls have burgeoned in recent years and the trend is at its peak currently.

On average, a person receives multiple calls from agencies and their associates which are either product or service related. The calls made are not authentic and there is no evidence to prove that these calls are genuine.

Fake calls from a dubious or unrecognized service provider or a product promotion company are on the rise in a country like ours and there are viable options to tackle it and curb the menace altogether

Let us look at some of the measures that need to be taken to tackle fake sales promotion calls

The first and foremost thing is to find out the exact origin of the fake call. Try to find out the source and note down the details precisely

If possible install the true caller app on your mobile phone and know the name of the person or the company that made the call

Try to ascertain the authenticity and the motive of the caller and act accordingly.

To avoid receiving calls block the number on your mobile phone

Do not click on any link received via messenger, WhatsApp, or SMS as this might be a trap to defraud you

Fake websites similar to Flipkart and Amazon are doing the rounds on the internet. Do not fall into the trap and do not be fooled.

Inform the cybercrime cell of the local police department and let them know that you are the receiving end of fake calls

Contact the company from where you received the call to check the authenticity and purpose of the call.

SMS your network service provider and request them to stop the sales promotion calls on your mobile phone

The above measures will surely help you to turn things around. But despite the firewall in place, sales promotion calls have never stopped and there is every possibility of a person being duped and harassed by these fraudsters who fake their identity and their motive is to cheat and swindle money from innocent customers.

The crux of the problem lies in the fact that our cell numbers are shared by the network service providers with fraudulent and fake companies who are on a promotion spree very often.

This collaboration and association paves the way for fake calls that have become rampant and excessive in recent years. There has been no attempt to curb the menace of fake and malicious calls which are made with the intent to siphon off money and dupe innocent customers.

As a result, a lot of water has flown above the head, and an urgent law is required to stop and prevent companies from making fake promotion calls that are dubious and lacks authenticity.

Finally, I have a word to say. Do not encourage calls from fraudsters and scammers. Report any suspicious call to the cybercrime department without fail. Be smart and dare to take action.

Never lose confidence in dealing with fraudsters and do not fall prey to excessive and belligerent selling from mischief mongers.
