Bangalore or Bengaluru as it is called is a southern Indian city in the state of Karnataka. It is close to the Tamil Nadu border and is only 45 km from Hosur, a town in neighboring Tamil Nadu.
Bangalore was once a sleepy town preferred by pensioners and vacationers. But with the advent of the IT industry in the 90s, it has transformed into a bustling metropolis of 12.5 million people. Today Bangalore is a Silicon Valley-type city with a plethora of IT companies, Research labs and Global development Centre’s and so on.
Since the arrival of Technology companies into Bangalore in the mid and late 90s, there has been a steady inflow of people from other parts of the country as well as expatriates in search of work and livelihood.
Many Software professionals have made Bangalore their home since it offers outsiders’ world-class facilities and amenities that are comparable to any other global city. It has a salubrious climate throughout the year; it is dotted with numerous shopping malls and multiplexes apart from well-known restaurants to name a few.
An IT engineer working in Bangalore often speaks proudly and boasts about his stay in the city. But the reality is far from the truth. Not all migrants are happy in Bangalore since the city has massive traffic problems coupled with overflowing drains and frequent power cuts.

Another drawback Bangalore has is it is too small for a massive migratory population. It was not planned to accommodate a large population of over 10 million people. As a result, civic problems have cropped up and there is no end to the plight of people’s suffering.
But despite the drawback, Bangalore continues to attract talent from different parts of the country due to its vibrant and versatile Tech Industry. It is overwhelmingly cosmopolitan and quite modern among the Indian metros.
An IT Engineer based in Bangalore easily gets accustomed to the climate and food that the city has to offer. Besides food, the receptive nature of the locals has made Bangalore the most welcoming city. Multiple food joints and premium labels are catering to the customers of various classes.
Bangalore has crossed all expectations and it has proved to be a premium IT destination despite all odds. Any software professional based in the city would vouch for its vibrant culture including nightlife and the numerous bars and pubs that are spread across the city landscape.
An IT Engineer like his fellow mates employed in the tech industry can gain substantial work experience in a city like Bangalore which has a plethora of options to offer. Apart from IT, there are numerous government-owned defense labs and R&D centers that employ a huge number of software engineers on their payroll. So Bangalore has it all for whoever comes in search of work.
Finally, before ending this discussion, I would say that there are several pros and cons for any city including Bangalore. This city also has its advantages and disadvantages to its credit. But despite the negative impact the city had due to various problems it faced in the past, it continues to march ahead as the destination of choice for many professionals from around the globe. So let us make this city a livable and vibrant one with all the stakeholders involved.
