Work From Home – A unique and productive style of working

The recent spate in cases of novel coronavirus around the world has forced millions to stay and work from home and carry on their daily routine. No country has been spared since the virus epidemic spread from china to other regions of the world.

As a result, several countries were forced to impose lockdown to curb the spread of the virus and the menace it was to people of all age groups. Offices, schools, colleges, and numerous public places had to shut their doors due to the pandemic situation to curb the spread of the virus.

Now the questions arise about how offices around the world have coped with the sudden change in working style that has been imposed upon us due to the covid19 situation.

Work from the home facility has already been in vogue in western countries particularly in the United States. Now the pandemic situation has once again allowed us to work from the comfort of our homes keeping in mind the safety procedures and take all necessary precautions to keep ourselves safe and secure.

In India work from home has never been a common practice as it is in the west. But due to the Covid19 situation prevailing across the country, companies across various sectors are availing the WFH option without much bickering.

This pandemic has taught us family values and enabled us to bond with our beloved ones. So staying at home and working on our laptops isn’t a bad idea after all. Another factor that favors work from home is that the bulk of the work gets done in one sitting without any disturbance.

Simultaneously a person can look after the household chores as well as carry on his official assignments with total concentration and in a secluded environment.

So work from home is a new trend now and this style of working from home is going to stay for some time unless and until the virus abates and the situation becomes normal. It is quite uncommon to do our official work from our homes since we are not used to it. But the covid19 situation has virtually changed the entire work scenario and the way we approach work.

The current situation has enabled us to function nonstop from our laptops and desktops. It has taught us to follow the SOPs which we were not aware of previously. The good habits have all of a sudden become a norm for all of us. Washing hands, wearing masks, and maintaining social distance has become part of our lives.

There is no hard and fast rule as far as working from home is concerned. Work from home differs from our office environment. At home, we are in a secluded environment, unlike the office which has a lot of rules and regulations attached to it.

To conclude this article I would reckon that there is no alternative in sight other than working from home and for the time being it seems to be a good alternative which is quite impregnable. We have been bestowed with this unique opportunity and the onus lies on us to utilize it and make it a grand success.
