Civil Services – A most sought after career option
Every child has an aspiration to do something when they grow up. Some may want to become a scientist; a few others would like to be a doctor or a surgeon, while the rest would prefer to be a civil servant.
Civil services are one of the most sought after career options in India. A civil servant has the power at his disposal to carry out his duties diligently and efficiently. This particular field of study is open to both males and females irrespective of the community they belong to.
The first and foremost question that pops up in our minds is how to prepare for such exams to gain a foothold in a government department. Though many coaching classes have sprung up in every nook and corner of this country, there is intense competition amongst them to top the popularity charts and churn out toppers with high percentage points.
A candidate usually prepares for a civil services exam a year before the exam date and he or she has to be thorough with the subjects they are dealing with. Students are fine-tuned in the subjects of their choice. Expert tutors who are either retired civil servants or industry experts’ brainstorm and groom the students from day one resulting in the best of talent.
Students are also made to appear for mock exams and mock interviews to gain confidence and courage to speak in front of the interview panel when they attend the actual interview. It is an intense and hardcore coaching methodology involved and this eventually leads to aspirants excelling with flying colors.
Another very useful and common practice to prepare for exams is to solve past year question papers in a real-time situation. This gives the aspirant immense confidence and courage to face the real exams with ease.
A student can tackle and solve complex questions by practicing old questions papers that serve as a turning point and is the key to success in their attempt to excel and enter the corridors of power. Though the pattern and style of questions papers differ year to year, solving past year question papers can open the Pandora box for a wannabe aspirant and can enhance his chances of excelling in the real exam by several notches.
This field of study gives power and authority to a person who wants to become a government servant. Though it degrades your status in the eyes of politicians who know nothing and are on the mercy of such babus, it gives ample status and power in the society with loads of facilities at their disposal.
I would recommend civil services for those who are assertive and bold enough to face the corrupt and unfit politicians and who are ready to tackle any situation that is averse to them.
Last but not least a civil service job is a wonderful way of serving people and the state with full authority and due diligence. One has to be fortunate enough to become a civil servant since the job is very demanding and has a plethora of candidates vying for it every year.
